How to control JLab's search of your pages

If you are finding that your pages are showing up but you don't wish them to, there are many ways to correct this. You can put a file in the directory (robots.txt), put a tag in a web page (robots meta tag) or contact us about the problem page(s).

    Robots.txt

You need access to the root domain for this solution to work. If you only have access to the page itself, please try the robots meta tag solution.

Search engines, including the lab's, will look for a file specifically named "robots.txt" (example: http://www.jlab.org/robots.txt). This file lets search engines know which pages are ok for indexing.

Please use this robots.txt tutorial to set search permissions at the root level.

      Our search engine's name (user-agent) is: em-crawler.

    Robots Meta Tag

You will need access to the problem web page(s) for this solution to work. If you don't have access to the page itself, please email webmaster@jlab.org or fill out the feedback form about your concern.

Please use this Meta Tag tutorial to set different search permissions on your pages.

    Contact Us
